The Rewards of the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:9-11
The Holy Spirit Resides in the Believer (Romans 8:9)
The Holy Spirit Revives the Believer (Romans 8:10) We see the phrase in verse 10 “the Spirit is life.” The word Spirit in Greek is the word pneuma. (Balloon illustration)
The balloon represents us, our body, dead because of sin. It needs air, pneuma, the word we get pneumatics from, pressurized air. This air gives form, life, and purpose to the balloon. Without air, the balloon is dead. With air, the balloon has life. Without the Holy Spirit we are dead, with the Holy Spirit we have life!
The Holy Spirit Raises the Believer to Life (Romans 8:11)
Application:
The Holy Spirit Witnesses (John 15:26) “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.” “, (John 16:13-14) “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” (Acts 1:8) “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
The Holy Spirit Helps Us Walk for Christ (Galatians 5:24-25) “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”
