A Faith Displayed Through Sacrifice (vv.17-19)
 
In Gen. 21 God told Abraham that the covenant promises would continue through Isaac, not Ishmael. In Gen. 22, when Isaac was probably around the age of 12 or 13, Abraham was faced with a test.
 
Gen 22:1-2 “After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
 
A Faith Dedicated to the Future (vv.20-22)
 
  1. Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau. (v.20)
  2. Jacob blessed the future of Joseph. (v.21)
  3. Joseph’s faith held to the promised land (v.22)
 
A Faith Determined to be Obedient (vv.23-28)

  2. Moses was fueled by the wealth of Christ (v.26)
  3. Moses was obedient to take flight for God (v.27)
  4. Moses was confident in the faithfulness of God (v.28)
