Eternal Security vv.21-30
Three really great doctrinal truths are found here: 1) The Trinity v. 30. “I and the Father are one.” 2) Relationship v.27 “..and I know them…” 3) Eternal Security vv.28-29.
John 6:37 “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”
Romans 8:37-39 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Endures Suffering vv.31-39
1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”
Matthew 5:10-12 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Exalts the Savior vv.40-42
Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Our privilege is to exalt Christ! To bring Him glory! If we are wondering what God’s will for our life is, than wonder no longer! His purpose for us is to bring Him much glory! That’s why the Great Commission was His last words.
How can we be daily effected by the Great Shepherd?
- The Word
- Prayer
“An easy, non-self-denying life will never be one of power. Fruit-bearing involves cross-bearing. There are not two Christs; an easy-going one for easy-going Christians and a suffering one toiling for exceptional believers. There is only one Christ. Are you willing to abide in Him, and thus bear much fruit?” – Hudson Taylor
